An art exhibition was inaugurated at the National Art Gallery last night, consisting of paintings from the art competition conducted during the India-Maldives friendship week dubbed Dhosti-Ekuverikan week in January.
The art exhibition was inaugurated by High Commissioner of India to the Maldives Rajeev Shahare. The High Commissioner also handed-out prizes to the winners of the art competition.
Speaking at the event, Shahare noted the support shown by citizens from both countries and thanked the Maldivian government and senior government officials for their support in marking the friendship week a success.
A total of 1600 drawings were submitted to the competition from 20 different schools. The High Commission of India, Maldives also organized a food festival, a film festival, yoga workshops, a cultural evening, a music festival and a quiz event during the friendship week, which was marked from 20 to 27 January.
A 4-member medical team consisting of 3 senior Ophthalmologists also conducted free eye camps in Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) and Hulhumale’ Hospital from 24 to 26 January.
