MNDF officer in Addu accident transported to Sri Lanka

The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) officer who received serious injuries in a road accident in Hithadhoo, Addu City on Sunday night, has been transported to Sri Lanka for further treatment.

The accident took place on Hithadhoo Bodu Magu around 7:30 p.m., when two motorcycles collided. The MNDF officer, Riffathulla, a senior officer at MNDF’s Southern Area, suffered serious injuries to the head.

Riffathulla was brought to Male’ and taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) around 3:20 a.m. last night. Sources say he was still unconscious when he was flown off to Sri Lanka this morning.

Both motorcycles involved in the Hithadhoo accident were carrying two passengers. However, Riffathulla, who was in one of the passenger seats, was the only person to suffer serious injuries.
