Former President of Elections Commission Fuad Thaufeeg has exercised his right to silence when summoned and questioned by the police tonight.
Fuad was accompanied to Police Headquarters Shaheed Hussain Adam Building at 9:30 p.m. by Head of Legal Section of Elections Commission Haneefa Khalid.
When questioned by reporters as he exited the building, Fuad said, “I have no comments at this stage”.
Sun Online is aware that Fuad was summoned regarding the investigation of a leaked audio, of a phone conversation between Fuad and former President Mohamed Nasheed about the Parliamentary Election.
The case was filed to police by Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Parliamentary Election candidate for Maafannu-South, Deputy Minister of Youth, Abdulla Rifau.
