Three Maldivians have been arrested from the Future Music Festival Asia (FMFA) in Malaysia, which saw six people die from methamphetamine overdoses last week.
Director of Communications at the Maldives Ministry of Foreign Affairs Zaid Ahmed confirmed that three Maldivians were arrested from a music show in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur on 13 March.
“Malaysian High Commission (Maldives High Commission in Malaysia) is monitoring the matter closely,” Zaid Ahmed said. Details of the arrests are scant.
Malaysian newspaper The Star Online quoted City Police Chief Senior Deputy Commissioner Datuk Mohmad Salleh to have stated that 22 people were arrested form the festival, including three foreigners and seven Malaysians in possession of narcotics.
