Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has ordered the government not to sign a new contract with AMIN Construction to complete the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) building, until the commission concludes an investigation regarding the matter.
Speaking to Sun today, ACC president Hassan Luthfee said that when AMIN Construction was re-commissioned to complete the project, the previous administration had added an additional MVR 10 million to the agreement and that the Commission has receive further complaints that the current government has agreed to pay another MVR 14 million to the company to complete the overdue project.
Luthfee said the relevant authorities have now been notified to refrain from signing a new agreement with AMIN Construction.
The construction of a new wing for the capital’s congested primary hospital, Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), began 6 years ago.
Amid public pressure following news that the IGMH had transfused HIV positive blood to a pregnant woman last week, Health Minister Dr Mariyam Shakeela assured that the new wing will be completed by the end of April this year.
