Swearing-in ceremonies under way for Councillors

Swearing-in ceremonies are under way for Councillor elects, following the recent Island Council and Atoll Council Elections.

Local Government Authority (LGA) said that swearing-in ceremonies for Island Councillors and Atoll Councillors began at 9:00 a.m. today, and that Addu City Councillors and Male’ City Councillors would be sworn in tonight.

Efforts are also ongoing to elect Presidents and Vice Presidents to the councils.

LGA said that swearing-in has been delayed for nine councils until the end of their terms, which would be next month.
