Civil Court has accepted the case filed by Feydhoo MP Alhan Fahmy requesting to annul the result of the Primary held for Feydhoo by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
This case was earlier rejected by High Court, which said that it could only process cases related to general elections filed by Elections Commission, and not ones related to elections within parties.
A Civil Court official said that the case had been registered, and it would be scheduled by judges.
MP Alhan has requested the court to annul MDP’s Feydhoo Primary and declare void the winner Mohamed Nihad’s candidacy.
He has also requested the court to issue an injunction on Nihad’s candidacy.
Nihad won the Primary with 361 votes against MP Alhan, who received 154 votes.
