Juvenile Court has said that the most common crimes committed by boys are possession, assault and theft; while the most common crime committed by girls is involvement in illegal sexual activities.
A report published by Juvenile Justice Unit states that 588 juvenile offenders were arrested last year, most of whom were 17-year-olds.
The report states that overall, the most common crime among juvenile offenders is possession, most likely for the purpose of selling.
Juvenile Court highlighted that minors are often used by adults to transport and deal drugs on the assumption that minors will not be penalised for criminal activities, but reminded that minors will also be penalised for their involvement in criminal activities.
The report also reminded parents and the society as a whole, of their role in preventing the involvement of minors in criminal activities.
