Elections Commission has said that 1,571 complaints have been filed regarding the voters’ list for the Parliamentary Election.
Director General of Elections Commission Mohamed Shakeel said that the deadline for filing complaints was up yesterday, by which time 120 complaints had been filed by members of the public, while 1,385 complaints had been filed by Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), and 60 by opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
Shakee did not give any details regarding the complaints.
“We will attend to every complaint individually. But complaints regarding names missing from the list – there’s nothing we can do about this now. We’ll send the complaints to DNR for revision,” he said.
Elections Commission said that re-registration for the Parliamentary Election will be opened soon.
