Supreme Court has given members of the Elections Commission the opportunity to present their response to the claims regarding contempt of court.
Elections Commission members were summoned to the court today at 2:00 p.m.
At Supreme Court today, lawyer representing Elections Commission Hussain Siraj requested that Elections Commission members be given the opportunity to respond to the claims raised by the court.
Chief Justice Ahmed Faiz Hussain complied with this request, and said that a date for the next hearing on this case will be announced later.
Supreme Court issued an order yesterday accusing Elections Commission members of committing contempt while speaking at press conferences.
Supreme Court, in its order, also accused Elections Commission members of refusing to implement its order regarding the dissolution of small political parties, and also challenging an order issued on 9 January and violating Article 145 (c) of the Constitution.
