Two individuals fined over presidential address protests

Criminal Court has fined two individuals by MVR 3000 for obstructing police duties during the 2012 protests against the parliament inauguration presidential address.

The Criminal Court sentence states that witness statements shows that individuals; ; Ahmed Nazeer, 23 and Ahmed Ahid, 37, on 1 March 2012, had obstructed duties of the police during a protest at the junction of Lily Magu and Alikilegefaanu Magu, where they had attacked police shields and broken a police line.

The sentence requires them to pay the complete fine within a one-month period.
