Man seriously injured in landing craft explosion

A local man is reported to be in serious condition following an explosion inside the engine room of a commercial landing craft docked at Thilafushi island.

Two locals and one foreigner were injured during the accident, which happened around 2:45 p.m. today, said the police. All three individuals were taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

IGMH Media Official Zeenath Ali said one of the locals is undergoing surgery. The other two individuals have been discharged after treatment, she said.
