Maldives, Sri Lanka sign three agreements

Three agreements have been signed between the governments of Maldives and Sri Lanka as part of President Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s ongoing official visit to Sri Lanka on the invitation of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The agreements were signed after official talks between officials of the two countries today.

The first agreement was regarding preventing transnational crime and strengthening cooperation between police forces in both countries. This agreement was signed by Commissioner of Police Hussain Waheed on behalf of the Maldivian government and Inspector General of Police N K Illangakoon on behalf of the Sri Lankan government.

The second agreement was about strengthening cooperation regarding youth development and training. This agreement was signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dhunya Maumoon on behalf of the Maldivian government and Minister of Youth Affairs and Skills Development Dullas Alahapperuma on behalf of the Sri Lankan government.

The third agreement was regarding strengthening cooperation between the two countries in sports. This agreement was signed by Minister at the President’s Office Mohamed Hussain Shareef on behalf of the Maldivian government and Minister of Sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage on behalf of the Sri Lankan government.
