Maldives Police has appealed for cooperation from the public in their efforts to find the perpetrators involved in the murder of Hussain Waheed.
Hussain Waheed, 22, was stabbed and killed in front of a house named Ma. Aisha on Buruzu Magu last night (Tuesday night).
In a video posted on Police Media today, Deputy Head of Maldives Police Serious and Organised Crime Department, Inspector of Police Azeem Waheed urged anyone who has information on the suspects to come forward, and contact the police on 119, 3322111, or 9911099.
He assured that the identities of people who share information with the police will be protected.
Azeem thanked the public for their support in similar cases in the past.
He said that one individual, a 26-year-old, has been taken into custody on suspicion of this crime.
Hussain Waheed and Shaz Shareef, 18, were attacked with a sharp object at 10.45 p.m. last night.
While Shaz Shareef did not suffer any serious injuries, Hussain Waheed died while being treated for the stab wounds at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
