Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has reduced its fee of MVR 35 for the express ferries between Male’ - Hulhule’ and Male’ - Hulhumale’ to MVR 25 per ticket.
The company began its speed boat express services to Hulhumale’ in September 2011 at MVR 20 per ticket. It has since increased the fee twice, first to MVR 25 and then to MVR 35 per ticket on 2 December this year.
An official of MTCC told Sun earlier this month that they were forced to increase the price over increase in oil prices, amongst other reasons.
MTCC sells regular ferry tickets to Hulhumale’ and Vilimale’ for MVR 5.50 and MVR 3.25 per ticket respectively.
