US Ambassador calls on the President

United States Ambassador to the Maldives Michele J. Sison has paid a courtesy call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

President’s Office said that meeting, held yesterday at the President’s Office yesterday, was focused on bilateral relations between the Maldives and the United States and on ways to further enhance cooperation between the two countries.

President Yameen briefed Ambassador Sison on the government’s progress in the delivery of its pledges and the challenges in the areas of development. The President explored possibilities of seeking US assistance in areas such as environment, education and health.

Ambassador Sison reassured US’s continuous support and cooperation to the Maldives, said the President's Office.

President Yameen was joined at the call by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dunya Maumoon, Ministers at the President’s Office Mohamed Hussain Shareef and Abdulla Ameen and Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ali Naseer Mohamed.
