Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has notified Male’ City Council to halt all its planned projects.
Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr Mohamed Muizzu told Sun Online that the City Council was sent this notification on 12 December, until the government conducts a review to determine if the council implements its projects in line with government policies.
He said that this review will be conducted by the cabinet, and that the City Council can proceed with its projects once the review is completed.
He explained that the council can proceed with ongoing projects but would not be allowed to start new projects following this notification.
He also rejected reports that the government’s aim is to obstruct Male’ City Council’s efforts.
“Our purpose isn’t to obstruct Male’ City Council’s efforts or halt its projects. They’ve only been notified to halt projects until the cabinet completes its review,” he said.
