EC opens re-registration for local council election

Elections Commission (EC) has opened re-registration for the local council election, scheduled for 18 January 2014.

In an announcement yesterday, EC said that re-registration forms will be accepted from 19 December to 28 December between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays and between 2:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Fridays.

Re-registration forms are available from the commission’s website, commission’s main office, all island council offices and the city council office in Addu, said EC.

Re-registration is required for those who wish to vote from a location other than their permanent addresses. The commission also said that it will receive a maximum of 10 forms for each token number.
