Amendments will be proposed to facilitate privileges to Waheed: President Yameen

President Abdulla Yameen has said that as soon as the new parliamentary session is under way, amendments will be proposed to the relevant law to ensure that privileges and security are accorded to former President Mohamed Waheed.

President Yameen said that while talking to reporters after welcoming former President Waheed as he arrived in Male’ after a private visit abroad.

Yameen said during his campaign as well, that his government would provide full security and protection to former President Waheed.

The law presently states that privileges will only be provided to former presidents who complete at least one presidential term, which is two years and six months.
