Former president Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has said that he will spend his post-presidency years trying to do some beneficial work for the Maldivian society.
The former president made the statement soon after returning to the Maldives, his first return home after the change of presidency last month.
“Well, I will try to do some work that is beneficial for the society,” Dr Waheed said, when asked by the press upon his arrival from the airport last night.
President Abdulla Yameen, Vice President Dr Mohamed Jameel, Jumhoory Party leader Gasim Ibrahim and leaders and supporters of coalition parties gathered to greeted the former president as he arrived in the capital last night.
Stating medical reasons, Dr Mohamed Waheed left for Singapore around mid November, days before the second round of the presidential election was to be held.
