Former Vice President of Gaumee Party Imad Solih has joined Jumhooree Party (JP).
Imad told Sun Online today that he joined JP because it is necessary to be a member of a big political party, in order to be engaged in politics.
He said that the Maldives needs a third option in terms of political parties, and that JP is a strong party with a bright future.
He also said that it was no longer possible to move forward as a member of Gaumee Party, following the resignation of its President Dr Hassan Saeed.
Imad Solih served as Minister of State for Education in the government of former President Dr Mohamed Waheed.
Presently, the post of President of Gaumee Party is held by Vilufushi MP Riyaz Rasheed.
