Government to enforce compulsory stint for sponsored doctors and nurses

Government’s Social Council has decided to introduce compulsory stint for nurses and medical doctors trained under government scholarships.

The President’s Office revealed today that the doctors and will have to service for a period of one year in any health centre assigned by the Ministry of Health and Gender.

The decision was made to address the shortage of doctors and nurses in the islands, the President’s Office said.

The President’s Office has asked the Ministry of Health and Gender to prepare an administrative plan for the implementation of this project.
