Deadline for submitting Council Elections applications extended

The Elections Commission has extended the deadline for submitting applications for the Local Council Elections.

The commission announced today that the deadline has been extended until 3.00 p.m. on Tuesday, 10 December, because more time is required by applicants to obtain their criminal and debt record statements which must be submitted with the application.

The Elections Commission said that the application forms will be accepted between 9.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. every day, until Tuesday.

975 island councillors, 123 atoll councillors, and 17 city councillors will be elected at the Local Council Elections scheduled for 18 January.
