President proposes three nominations for EC vacancy

President Abdulla Yameen has proposed the names of three individuals to parliament to be considered for the vacant seat in the Elections Commission, following the resignation of commission member Ogaru Mohamed Waheed in October this year.

The three nominations include; Mohamed Tholal of G. Fini Vilu, Male’, Ismail Habeeb Abdul Hakeem, H. Neat, Male’ and Mohamed Nishwan, H. Habaruge, Male’. Parliament has today forwarded the three nominations to the Independent Institutions Committee for review.

The four members that currently sits on the five-member Elections Commission are; Mohamed Farooq Ali, Mohamed Manik, Commission Vice President Ahmed Faiz Hassan and Commission President Fuad Thaufeeq.
