Students should be given the chance to build character: Minister

Minister of Education Dr Asim Ahmed has said that the education system should allow students the opportunity to build character.

He said this at a ceremony held in Dharumavantha School yesterday to appoint students to senior posts.

Asim said that students should be trained to face challenges in life, and highlighted the importance of teaching them things they should get involved in, and things they should refrain from in life. He urged parents to keep children away from things not suited for them.

He also advised parents to act as examples to their children, especially during their secondary education as this is a period when they undergo several physical and psychological changes.

The Deputy Principal of the School Aminath Waseela said that the aim of Dharumavantha School is to produce responsible students who respect Islam and are literate in national and social issues.

Dharumavantha School said that 123 students were appointed to different positions in yesterday’s ceremony. The school captain is Hussain Zayan Shafiu of class 10-J.
