Officials of Elections Commission (EC) in collaboration with the police have started transporting ballot papers and voter lists to voting stations in the atolls and abroad, for the second round of the presidential election scheduled for tomorrow.
The police said that ballot papers and voter lists have been dispatched to all voting stations abroad, and that the material were dispatched to London, New Delhi, and Colombo at 9:00 a.m. today.
The police further informed that officers departed with the election material by air to the northern atolls at 3:15 a.m., and that officials departed to islands in Kaafu, Alifu Alifu, Alifu Dhaalu, Vaavu, Meemu, Faafu, and Dhaalu Atolls at 6:00 a.m. today.
Officials also departed with the material to Fuvahmulah by air at 7:30 a.m., to Huvadhu Atoll at 10:45 a.m., to Addu City at 10:50 a.m., and to Thaa Atoll at 11:00 a.m.
The police said that the only locations remaining are Laamu Atoll and 21 resorts, and that officials will depart to Laamu Atoll at 1:45 p.m. and to the resorts at 2:00 p.m.
The transport of ballot papers and voter lists are conducted by Elections Commission officials and Police Security Officers.
