Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) has raised the price of jet fuel for domestic and international flights.
A circular dated 29 February and released by GMR Chief Commercial Officer Pradas Gopalan says that as of 1 March, the price of jet A1 fuel for domestic flights is US$1.20, and that for international flights is US$1.23.
This is an increase of five percent in jet fuel price.
Last month, the price was US$1.18 for international flights and US$1.15 for domestic flights.
The price of jet A1 fuel was increased last month as well. The company did not indicate a reason for the increase.
Several airlines have threatened to stop operating flights to Maldives, citing the high charges for ground handling and other services as a reason.
