New leaked video shows events of the day the government changed

A video has been leaked on YouTube, allegedly showing former President Mohamed Nasheed inside MNDF Headquarters with a large number of security officers just before his resignation on 7 February.

The 1:52-minute, soundless and edited video shows former President Nasheed and former Defence Minister Thalhath Ibrahim Kaleyfaan walking alongside several riot-security officers and issuing commands.

It shows Nasheed freely addressing the security officers, and the officers raising their hands. Nasheed is seen walking out to meet the Police at Republic Square, and being escorted in his car by a large number of security officers to the President’s Office for his resignation.

MNDF Media Officer Abdulla Ali said today that they have not received any information regarding this leaked video.

A similar video was leaked on 10 February, showing Nasheed stringently ordering military officers to exit the Headquarters, minutes before his resignation. The video showed former President Nasheed, former Defence Minister Thalhath Ibrahim Kaleyfaan, Foreign Minister Ahmed Naseem and Dhaandhoo MP Mohamed Riyaz walking around in panic.
