Police reveal details of man suspected of vandalizing CCTV camera

Maldives Police Service has disclosed the details of the individual being sought for vandalizing a CCTV camera in Chaandhanee Magu, Orchid Magu intersection during a Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) protest on Saturday night.

Police revealed the man as Kaamil Ibrahim of Beach House, Alif Alif Ukulhas, a man who has served a six year prison sentence.

Police said that Kaamil Ibrahim was also arrested for threatening and assaulting the crew of an oil boat in Ali Dhaalu Kimbidhoo in March this year.

A video released by the police earlier today shows the man revealed as Kaamil Ibrahim wearing a helmet and wielding a stick, forcing his way through the police barricades near Chaandhanee Magu traffic lights. A policeman is seen telling the man to move back into the crowd. The man however, starts threatening the policemen with the stick and edges forward. The same individual is seen breaking a CCTV camera in the same area.

Police has appealed to the public to inform them through Criminal Investigation Department number 9631696 or the Maldives Police Service Hotline 3322111, with any information regarding the suspect.
