The Ministry of Economic Development has solicited the submission of proposals to finance, develop and operate three packaging facilities at the Hulhumale’ industrial zone.
The ministry made an announcement last week seeking parties interested in the project which entails packaging facilities for milk, cooking oil and detergent for a contract period of 25 years.
The ministry said that bidders are welcome to submit proposals for all three plots, but each proposal shall be submitted separately, and shall be evaluated individually.
The project involves importing milk, cooking oil and detergent in bulk quantity and packing them in different sizes to sell on wholesale and/or retail basis for the local market and export market.
The main objectives of this project are ensuring the supply of milk, cooking oil and detergent products at comparatively lower prices in additional packaging sizes, and facilitating the growth of light industry in the Maldives.
The ministry has scheduled an information session for 27 October 2013 at 2:00 p.m., and the deadline for submitting proposals is 2:00 p.m. on 24 November 2013.
