Local diver found dead in Gaddhoo

A local from the island of Gaafu Dhaalu Gaddhoo has died while SCUBA diving today.

President of Gaddhoo Council Mohamed Rizaan said that 46 year old Abdulla Zubair Mohamed was found dead around 1:30 p.m. in the sea.

Maseeh, who accompanied Zubair on the dive, said that Zubair was discovered by five fisherman out at sea and that Zubair’s regulator was disconnected from his mouth when he was discovered. He said that the fishermen had tried to administer CPR, but their efforts were futile since Zubair had been dead by the time he was taken on to the boat.

A source from Gaddhoo Health Centre told Sun that Zubair was dead when they received him and that they have examined the body and handed it over to the family.

Police said that they are investigating the incident.
