Elections Commission (EC) has presented a computer software to the court, which was used in polling stations to monitor the polls during the first round of the presidential elections.
The software was presented following an order by the court.
EC President Fuad Thaufeeq said the software, called the Ballot Progress Recording System (BPRS), was used to continually monitor the number of ballots cast and the number of voters on queue, during the first round of the presidential elections held on September 7th.
“There was a netbook placed near every ballot box and it had this program installed. Through this program, our servers will receive the number of people who had cast ballots," Fuad Thaufeeq said.
The software was requested by the Supreme Court for the ongoing case filed by Jumhoory Party, asking the court to annul the results of the first round polls. Supreme Court has issued an injunction to postpone the second round of polls, has concluded all hearings and has stated that they are making every effort to issue a quick verdict.
