Jumhoory Party (JP) has said that they will accept any verdict by the Supreme Court ordering to restage the presidential elections.
JP released a statement on Sunday also calling for prompt and credible elections.
“Jumhoory Coalition will fully accept any ruling by the Supreme Court ordering the Maldives to, as soon as possible, conduct elections encompassing the confidence of the people and to make amends such that the fraud in the first round of the elections will not be repeated,” the statement read.
JP also called on the Supreme Court to expedite their case.
“Jumhoory Coalition’s presidential candidate and the supporters of the coalition wishes for the Supreme Court to reach a quick verdict in the case.”
The statement reiterated the party’s claims that grave irregularities had occurred during the first round of the elections and that addressing election fraud is necessary to establish people’s government in the Maldives.
