Construction work during Friday prayer time will not be allowed: Shaheem

Islamic Ministry has noted that construction work is carried out during Friday prayer time, and said that this practice will not be allowed to continue.

Islamic Minister Al-sheikh Shaheem Ali Saeed said today that the Ministry will work towards sustaining Islamic culture in the Maldives, and will take steps to end such practices.

“We will do everything necessary to end such practices. Working during Friday prayer time is not accepted in Maldives. Even work carried out by non-muslims must be disrupted for Friday prayers,” Shaheem said.

In a statement released by the Ministry today, they said, “We would like to remind our brothers and sisters that continuing to work during Friday prayer time is against the Quran and Sunnah.”
