High Court has ordered the Elections Commission to allow the Jumhoory Party presidential candidate and his representatives to view the list of people who voted in the September 7th presidential elections.
Jumhoory Party (JP) filed the case in High Court on the 11th of September, alleging irregularities in the election process and asking for an order to view the list of people who voted.
However, the High Court’s order stated that the list should be restricted to the authority and compound of the Elections Commission.
“The High Court hereby sentences the Elections Commission to arrange, for the Jumhoory Party presidential candidate, and the appropriate amount of representatives appointed by the candidate, to view the list of people of voted in the first round of the presidential elections, in a manner in which all doubts on part of the Jumhoory Party are satisfied,” the Chief Judge of the High Court stated today.
During the last hearing of the case, held the 15th of this month, both JP and EC agreed to the EC to allowing them to visit the Commission’s office to view the list.
Member of the JP’s legal team, Mohamed Haleem Ali said that the party is satisfied with the High Court order.
