Guraidhoo Council passes not to place ballot boxes in schools, due to black magic

Due to recent reports of the practise of black magic in Kaafu Guraidhoo, the Guraidhoo Council has passed a resolution stating that no election-related activity shall be held at any education centre in the island.

President of Guraidhoo Council Hussain Yameen Mohamed said that this resolution was passed after complaints were filed to the council following several incidents involving black magic, and assaults that took place in relation to those incidents in the island last week.

The resolution, passed unanimously by the five members of the council, states that no election can be held in the island after 15 September 2013.

Yameen said that a petition was submitted to the council, signed by about 50 people of the island, requesting that no election-related activities be held in any schools in the island.

He said that assault took place when the police took action against a group that tried to obstruct the efforts of a team that arrived in the island to work against the black magic, and that several complaints had been filed to the council by members of the public in relation to these incidents.

Two ballot boxes were placed in Guraidhoo Preschool and Guraidhoo Madharusa in the first round of the presidential election. Since then, two parents, a girl and a man have been ‘possessed by spirits’.

Guraidhoo Council said that in addition, several buried copies of the holy Quran have been removed from the beach, and several items used in black magic have been found in the island.
