Housing will be provided to every police and MNDF officer, says PPM running mate Dr Jameel

Running mate of the presidential candidate of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has said that a PPM government would provide housing to every police and Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) officer.

Dr Jameel made this remark while speaking at the first rally held by PPM after the first round of the presidential election held on Saturday.

He said that PPM is the only party that values the services provided by the police and MNDF over the past months, and that a PPM government would provide housing to every police and MNDF officer.

He said that healthcare would also be facilitated to every police and MNDF officer outside of the general healthcare system in the Maldives.

Dr Jameel said that a PPM government would ensure that the police institution is independent and politically uninfluenced, as he has shown personally in this work in the past.

He said that a PPM government would facilitate entertainment opportunities for youth to enjoy life, in addition to housing, education and job opportunities.

Dr Jameel also promised that by the end of the five-year term of a PPM government, Maldivian youth will hold high posts in the tourism sector.

He said that young people carrying out prison sentences will be given an additional chance, by the end of which they would have acquired skills that would allow them to obtain employment.

Dr Jameel said that an extremist, mentally-ill person will not be allowed to assume office as president even if he is elected.
