National Award for Special Achievement conferred

The National Award for Special Achievement has been presented to recipients last night.

Medals and certificates were presented to recipients by President Dr Mohamed Waheed at the official function on the occasion of Independence Day held at Dharubaaruge.

Awards were presented to fifteen individuals who achieved the highest ranking position in a higher academic course or training course.

They are, for Bachelor’s Degree, Abdulla Siyaz, Fathuhulla Ahmed, Mohamed Matheen, Aminath Sausan Ahmed, Aminath Sharuma, Shifa Thawfeeq, Anwar Ibrahim, Suood Mohamed Fulhu and Fareedha Mohamed.

Individuals who achieved the highest ranking position for Post Graduate Certificate were Wadhoodha Ahmed, Shakeela Hamid, Ahmed Rasheed, and Ahmed Asim.

Individuals who achieved the highest ranking position for Master’s Degree were Irufan Ahmed and Idhrees Ismail.

Recipients who were conferred the medal for achieving the highest academic qualification in the Maldives National Qualifications Framework were Dr Abdulla Firaq, Dr Mohamed Muizzu, Dr Ahmed Adhuham Abdulla and Dr Mizna Mohamed.

Four individuals received the President’s Medal for achieving the highest rank position in an international competition or exhibition. They were Mohamed Aseel, Ibrahim Fazeel, Ali Ashfaq and Ahmed Thoriq.

Medals and certificates were also presented to the National Football Team who won the SAF Championship 2008.

President Waheed also presented medals to Fathimath Jeehan Saleem and the Diabetes Society of Maldives for special achievement in the area of innovation and creativity.

Fihaalhohi Island Resort won the medal for the resort with best efforts to achieve carbon neutrality.

In addition, the president presented a special prize to Nazeeh Yauqoob Hussain, a student of Imaduddin School, for achieving the Best Challenger in the sector of e-sports Intellectual Disabilities at the Global I.T. Challenge for Youth with Disabilities.

In his speech, President Waheed extended his congratulations and warm wishes to all the recipients of the National Award for Special Achievement.
