State has resubmitted the case against Male’ City Council, seeking to stop the leasing of Male’ west harbour area to a private party.
Civil Court dismissed the case yesterday after the State attorney failed to attend the hearing on time.
Speaking to Sun today, Deputy Attorney General Ahmed Usham confirmed that the case was resubmitted today.
Usham said that the State has asked the court to declare that the call for bids to lease the Male’ west harbour area was against the law, and therefore invalid.
He also said that they have asked for an injunction to cease granting of plots from that area, and to delay any developmental projects planned for any such plots already granted by the Male' City Council.
Male’ City Council has leased the west harbour area to West Gate Assets Pvt. Ltd. for a MVR 400,000 per month, for a period of 25 years.
