The Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) has said that it will place officials in ten locations during the presidential election.
President of HRCM Mariyam Azra said at a press conference held at HRCM today that meetings had been held with political parties, the Elections Commission and the police regarding the preparations to place its officials in ten locations during the presidential election
The commission did not specify the locations.
HRCM said that more than 60 officials will be engaged in the election, and that the locations have been determined based on the Elections Commission’s advice.
The commission further said that they may not be able to cover the entire country, but a ‘phone monitoring system’ will be established in islands with larger populations, and that officials will be sent to different locations as necessary when problems arise.
