Speedboat carrying patient from Veymandoo to Male

A speedboat carrying a patient from Thaa Veymandoo to Male’ has run aground on a reef.

The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said that Seabird speedboat ran aground on Vaavu Rakeedhoo reef at around 2:15 am last night.

The patient has now been taken to Male’ with MNDF’s assistance.

No one was hurt in the incident, said MNDF.

MNDF said that 67-year-old Jaufar Moosa was treated for a head injury in the Atoll Hospital in Veymandoo, and taken to Male’ for further treatment following doctor’s advice.

The speedboat, which had its propeller damaged in the incident, has now been taken to Rakeedhoo by its crew, said MNDF.
