The Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has commenced a door-to-door-campaign in Male’ called House Call, as part of the campaign activities for the party’s presidential candidate Abdullah Yameen.
Speaking at a press conference today, PPM Spokesperson Ahmed Mahloof said that the campaign will go on until 7 September.
He said that over the past few days, PPM had obtained people’s opinions to understand their political affiliations.
“MDP would not get more than 35 or 37 percent votes at this presidential election. That’s between 70,000 and 80,000 votes, at most,” he said.
He said that MDP has conducted campaigns now for a long time, and that they have no campaigns left to carry out in the Maldives anymore; resulting in a decline in the support for MDP in the islands and MDP supporters joining PPM.
Meanwhile, President of PPM Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has departed to four northern atolls and PPM Youth Wing has decided to tour around the Maldives, as part of the campaign activities of PPM for the presidential election.
