Man sentenced to MVR 25,000 fine and 15 years in prison on drug charges

Criminal Court has sentenced a man to 15 years in prison and a fine of MVR 25,000 for being convicted of drug charges.

The man sentence was revealed as Abdulla Waheed of H. Fonifoni Maage.

The sentence read that around 3:40 a.m. on the 11th of June last year, , Policemen had called out to Abdulla Waheed on suspicion that he was under the influence of intoxicants while he was standing in near Royal Taxi in Raivilla Magu and witness statements says that he had dropped a rubber packet that was in his hand.

The sentence further ready that although Abdulla Mohamed had denied dropping the rubber packet, tests show that it contained 0.0415 grams of Morphine (Heroin).
