PPM candidate Yameen files candidacy

Progressive Party of Maldives’ (PPM) Presidential candidate Abdulla Yameen has filed his candidacy forms at the Elections Commission.

Yameen’s forms were received by President of Elections Commission Fuad Thaufeeg.

After filing the forms, PPM’s leadership held a meeting with the members of the commission. They discussed various issues related to the election such as re-registration, and Yameen requested the commission to find solutions to some of PPM’s concerns related to the election.

Fuad Thaufeeg assured that efforts would be made to ensure a fair and just election.

PPM’s council members and a large crowd gathered near the Elections Commission as Yameen arrived with the candidacy forms.

In addition to Yameen, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) presidential candidate Mohamed Nasheed, independent candidate President Dr Mohamed Waheed, and Jumhooree Party presidential candidate Gasim Ibrahim have filed candidacy papers to the commission. This means that all candidates who earlier announced that they would run for presidency have now filed the papers to the Elections Commission.
