My family is with Yameen: Ghassan Maumoon

Son of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Ghassan Maumoon has said that his entire family is with Presidential Candidate of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Abdullah Yameen.

Speaking on Channel 13, Ghassan said that former President Gayoom, who is also the president of PPM, would participate in Yameen’s campaign activities.

Ghassan’s remarks come at a time when some people have observed that Gayoom and some members of his family do not participate in Yameen’s campaign activities.

However, Gayoom and some members of his family participated in a function held at H. Meenaaz last week to inaugurate a campaign (jagaha) hall for Raa Atoll.

Gayoom is also attending the PPM rally at Artificial Beach tonight.

Ghassan said that the PPM presidential candidate was elected through a competitive and transparent election, and that Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed was appointed as running mate through strong majority of the party’s council.

Ghassan said that PPM would launch its manifesto soon, and that great research had gone into preparing the manifesto.
