JSC decides not to suspend Ali Hameed

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has decided not to suspend Supreme Court Judge Ali Hameed Mohamed.

Member of JSC Shuaib Abdul Rahman told Sun Online that this decision was passed with four votes in favour by commission members.

Meanwhile, the committee formed by the commission to investigate the case of the sex video involving Ali Hameed, has decided that he should be suspended.

Shuaib said that the members who voted against suspending Ali Hameed were JSC Member appointed by the parliament Gasim Ibrahim, Attorney General Azima Shakoor, JSC Member appointed by the president Latheefa Gasim, and President of Civil Service Commission Mohamed Fahmy Hassan.

“They first asked for the vote of the members who were against the suspension. When this was passed, there was no more voting. Myself, Shuaib Abdul Rahman and the other two members of the commission, Ahmed Rasheed and Abdullah Hameed, did not vote,” he said.

He said that the decision not to suspend Ali Hameed was passed due to the lack of substantial evidence against him.

The committee formed by the commission to investigate the sex video case consists of Commission Vice President Abdulla Didi, Commission members Latheefa Gasim and Ahmed Rasheed, and two independent lawyers – Hussain Siraj and Mohamed Anil.
