JP to hold congress on 16, 17 July

Jumhooree Party (JP) has decided to hold its congress, which was earlier scheduled for June, on 16 and 17 July 2013.

President of JP Dr Ibrahim Didi told Sun Online that this decision was passed unanimously by the members who participated in a meeting of the party’s Steering Committee held last night.

He said that the congress had to be postponed for two reasons.

“The congress had to be delayed, as we mentioned before, because Dharubaaruge was not available for those dates, and because 7,000 membership forms which had been submitted to the Elections Commission had not been processed,” he said.

He said that the discussion at last night’s meeting was focused on issues related to the congress.

JP had earlier decided to hold its congress from 27 to 29 June.
