Mission Commander of Chinese hospital ship calls on Defence Minister

Mission Commander of Chinese hospital ship “Peace Ark”, which is currently in the Maldives, Rear Admiral Shen Hao has called on Minister of Defence Colonel (Rtd) Mohamed Nazim and Chief of Defence force Major General Ahmed Shiyam today.

The navy ship arrived in the Maldives yesterday, for a visit conducted under the theme “Mission Harmony 2013” organized by Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) in collaboration with the PLA Navy.

Rear Admiral Shen Hao was provided an honour guard when he arrived at MNDF Headquarters, and he was welcomed by Male’ Area Acting Commander Colonel Ali Zuhair.

At the meeting with Colonel (Rtd) Mohamed Nazim, discussions were focused on strengthening ties between the two countries and cooperating in terms of humanitarian assistance.

A request was made by Colonel (Rtd) Mohamed Nazim to conduct training programs for Maldivian soldiers before the hospital ship concludes its visit to the Maldives.

MNDF said that Rear Admiral Shen Hao assured that he would communicate with the relevant authorities in China to arrange this.

At the meeting with Major General Ahmed Shiyam, he thanked the Chinese government for its assistance. MNDF said that the two officials discussed conducting more training programs in collaboration.
