Swiss professional tennis player Roger Federer has arrived in the Maldives on holiday.
A source from the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport informed Sun that Roger Federer arrived yesterday.
Federer visit to the Maldives follows his worst Grand Slam defeat since 2004 in the second round against the world’s 116th ranking player Sergiy Stakhovsky. The loss ended Federer's record streak of 36 consecutive quarterfinals at major tournaments.
In the 2012 Wimbledon Final, Federer defeated Andy Murray in four sets, regaining the world number-one ranking in the process.
English media sources state that Federer might have come to the Maldives to take his mind of the recent bitter defeat.
Roger Federer first visited Maldives in 2003 and has visited 8 times since. Federer describes the Maldives as the perfect holiday destination, which according to him, “fitted the bill perfectly.”
Maldives has become a popular destination for celebrities and tennis world champions to relax after grueling a season. Current world tennis number one Noval Djokovic and former number one player Rafael Nadal have also visited the Maldives on holiday.
