Former President Mohamed Nasheed has said that a government of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) would implement several developmental projects in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo.
Nasheed said this while speaking at a rally in Thinadhoo tonight.
He said that an MDP government would construct 17 kilometres of road in Thinadhoo. He said that groups who study MDP’s policies have said that 30 kilometres of road can be constructed in Thinadhoo, and given that the people of Thinadhoo continue to support MDP, construction of this 30 kilometres of road can be completed.
Nasheed said that the people of Thinadhoo are in need of 2,000 new houses, and that an MDP government would build 1,000 housing units.
He said that an MDP government would also establish universities in Thinadhoo, develop a harbour as agreed to by the people of the island, and implement renewable energy programs in Thinadhoo and Huvadhoo Atoll.
He further promised to grant scholarships to students in Thinadhoo within the first 100 days of an MDP government.
